All of us have times and places we feel closest to God. For some of us it may be during worship, for some it is when serving, and for some it is when we out in God’s beautiful creation. There are many ways we feel connected to God and I believe it is vitally important that we identify which spiritual pathways lead us to God and in turn as parents we need to help our children find the ways they feel closest to God. Here is a list of a few of the pathways that most people connect with:
-Relational (connect best with God when I am with other people)
-Intellectual (connect best with God when I learn)
-Worship (I connect best with God when I learn)
-Activist-(I connect best with God when doing great things)
-Contemplative (I connect best with God when in silence)
-Serving (I connect best with God while completing kingdom tasks)
-Creation (I connect best to God in Nature)
It would be very beneficial for both you and your son or daughter to spend time thinking about and trying to discover your Spiritual Pathway. Make a point of setting up time to experience each of these pathways to identify your pathway. The sooner you can help your child find these things out the better their relationship with God will be in the long run.
I think this post is a great one for us all. It’s so easy to become complacent….youth and adults included. It’s great for kids to see there are so many ways to connect with God. Just as the seasons of your life change, so do your gifts, talents and needs. This is a great way for the youth to see that they really CAN encorperate their faith in many aspects of their life!
